But that element seems to be missing these days, according to career services LiveCareer\u2019s <em>Generational Workplace Trust report,<\/em>\u00a0with more than half of 1,000 respondents<strong>\u00a0(53%)<\/strong>\u00a0believing their manager has lied to them and<strong>\u00a040%<\/strong>\u00a0reporting they have quit a job due to not trusting their manager. In addition, a quarter of respondents do not fully trust their manager to act in their best interests.<\/p>\n<p>Trust between employees and managers is built through communication, fairness, and accountability. However, certain leadership behaviors can erode that trust, making it difficult for employees to feel fully supported or valued in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents report that favoritism\u00a0<strong>(23%),<\/strong>\u00a0unethical behavior\u00a0<strong>(18%),<\/strong> and poor communication\u00a0<strong>(17%)<\/strong>\u00a0are the top factors that most damage employees\u2019 trust in their managers.<\/p>\n<p>The report also found a lack of accountability among those in management positions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 48%<\/strong>\u00a0say their manager acknowledges mistakes but downplays them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 29%<\/strong>\u00a0report their manager takes full responsibility for mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 23%<\/strong>\u00a0have managers who do not admit fault when they make a mistake.<\/p>\n<p>Workplace trust shifts across generations. More than\u00a0<strong>40%<\/strong>\u00a0of respondents believe Gen Z has the least trust in corporate leadership, challenges it more openly than other generations, and is the most willing to push back against leadership choices.<\/p>\n<p>The one common thread across age groups is a gap in understanding between themselves and leadership. Regardless of generation, the majority of respondents\u00a0<strong>(63%)<\/strong>\u00a0say leaders do not understand the priorities and challenges of their generation.<\/p>\n<p>To view the full
