Getting ready to board my flight home following our TechLearn Conference in September, I glanced down at my left hand, and my heart stuttered. The diamond from my engagement ring was\u2026gone. Frantically searching every available surface in the hopes of spotting my precious sparkler, I finally, heart-brokenly had to give up hope and get on the plane.<\/p>\n

When I got home and tearfully explained what had transpired, my very understanding husband (yes, he\u2019s a keeper!) urged me to pick out a new ring. Reluctant to invest in another expensive diamond that I could potentially lose again, I decided to go with the latest in gemstone technology: moissanite, which is every bit as sparkly as a diamond but at a fraction of the price.<\/p>\n

Lovely as my new ring is, what mattered most was the human\/emotional element: my husband setting up a lighted tree in our sunroom and bending down on one knee to propose again just as he had on Christmas Eve 24 years ago.<\/p>\n

Just as my new high-tech ring was made all the more special by my husband\u2019s re-proposal, the human element likewise remains critical for training. As TechLearn keynoter Mair\u00e9ad Pratschke said, \u201cThe new hybrid is Human and AI. It\u2019s no longer about learners, teachers, and tools being nodes in the network, it\u2019s about us collaborating with AI. It\u2019s about learning as a dialogue and understanding how interaction with AI changes what we need to know.\u201d<\/p>\n
