But also because I realized how crucially important such planning is after two members of our small but mighty team\u2014VP of Expositions Dick Powell and Conference Events Manager Kim Grant\u2014announced plans last year to retire after this year\u2019s Training Conference &amp; Expo. Luckily for us, they gave us plenty of notice and even helped to onboard one of their replacements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"firstAppearance onScreen\">But having those succession planning conversations last year proved to be invaluable as you never know when a team member will decide when to call it a career or leave to pursue an exciting new opportunity\u2014 something that just happened for our Operations director, Bethany Lewis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"firstAppearance onScreen\">We salute these talented team members and thank them for their valuable contributions over the years:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At 88 years young, Dick is renowned for his unmatched sales persistence, go-getter attitude, pithy sayings (\u201cKeep on keepin\u2019 on\u201d), and the best-ever rendition of the Hawaiian version of \u201cTwas the Night Before Christmas.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Kim\u2019s creative vision, calm demeanor, and willingness to pitch in (her response to just about every request: \u201cI can do that!\u201d) made her the go-to person on our team.<\/li>\n<li>Bethany is an Operations Wonder Woman who touched just about EVERYTHING to do with the\u00a0<em>Training<\/em>\u00a0brand. She\u2019s both big picture and detail oriented, forward-looking, and the best multi-tasker this side of Minnesota.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"firstAppearance onScreen\">As we continue to grow and develop our\u00a0<em>Training<\/em> team, we will surely benefit from the succession planning savvy of our Training APEX Awards winners (see \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/trainingmag.com\/priming-the-talent-pipeline\/\">Priming the Talent Pipeline\u201d<\/a>)\u2014and we hope you will, too!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You never
