Organizations held the line on training salaries in 2022-2023, with just a slight 1.25 percent increase to an average of $92,619, according to\u00a0Training<\/em>\u2019s annual Salary Survey of 1,142 readers, which ran from late March to June 2023.<\/p>\n

The average increase in salary in the last 12 months (not including a promotion or change of employer) was 4 percent, the same as 2021-2022. The majority (66 percent) of respondents typically work between 40 and 44 hours per week. Some 39 percent of respondents said their salary was low relative to their responsibilities, while 46 percent said it was equitable (vs. 38 and 45 percent, respectively, the prior year). Some 11 percent believe they are well paid relative to their responsibilities (up a hair from 10 percent last year). Forty-eight percent of respondents said they received a bonus in 2022, and 55 percent are eligible for one this year. The average cash bonus was $11,245, up a bit from $10,769 the year before.<\/p>\n

Some 31 percent of respondents said their organizations cut budgets in the last 12 months, 5 percent more than in 2021-2022. But only 2 percent of respondents said employers asked them to take a pay cut in 2022-2023, 2 percent less than the previous year. Some 8 percent froze salaries vs. 7 percent in 2021-2022. And 6 percent eliminated bonuses vs. 5 percent the prior year. Employee layoffs were noted by 18 percent, up from 12 percent last year. Travel was trimmed by 32 percent of respondents\u2019 organizations, down from 34 percent last year.<\/p>\n

Some 73 percent of Training professionals said they wouldn\u2019t choose another career if they could do it all over again (up from 68 percent last year). For those who would have pursued other careers, popular answers included: actor, business owner, engineer, lawyer, musician, nurse, professor\/teacher, speech pathologist, technology professional, and therapist.<\/p>\n
