Tell me three tasks or responsibilities in your current job description that you actually do on a regular basis. Most of us frequently find we regularly deviate from our job description\u2014 whether we want to or not.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut what if you could go beyond your job description and do more things you really enjoy doing? Perhaps you\u2019re an HR business partner (HRBP), but you really enjoy getting in front of clients to talk about your services. Or you\u2019re a trainer who enjoys computer coding.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Talent Engagement<\/strong> is maximizing your employees\u2019 talent, skills, or abilities (what they love to do) for the good of the company\u2014and as a result, for themselves. It\u2019s been found that employees are 27% more engaged if they find something in their job they enjoy doing\u2014something that is beyond their job description.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSo ask your employees to identify their strengths that they don\u2019t get to use but would like to. Then find ways (together) to support them. Once, when working in Operations, my manager gave me the chance to develop a five-session training on leadership. I loved it!<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor yourself, figure out how you can use your talents to support your company and talk to your direct manager about incorporating them into your current job. Take a chance.
